for my innovation we tried to come up with a catapult there are 3 types of catapults the Trebuchet, the ballista, the mongrel. Our catapult was a mongrel type we made it light enough so it didn't need wheels. the mongrel is what many people think of when they think of a catapult. From the latin word "mangonon" meaning engine of war. the mongrel was invented by the romans (early models used slings) with a rope attached to the end. The arm is then pulled back (from 90 degree angle) Then energy is stored In the tension of the rope and arm then the bucket would be loaded. When released the mongrels arm would return from its equilibrium position when it came in contact with the beam (or block) the arm would stop but the object stored in the bucket would continue to launch towards the enemy. The mongrel was capable of firing 1300 ft.
